- The pancreas has a well developed lobular arrangement (microscopically the pancreas is arranged in 1-10mm lobules) of highly glandular cellular tissue.
- The pancreas is covered by a thin layer of peritoneum and is invested by a thin layer of fibroconnective tissue containing vessels and nerves that separate the lobules (Mill ET AL 2007).
